Driving Schools and Autocrosses search

One of the ways the BMW Club of Canada promotes safety is by encouraging all automobile drivers to actively learn vehicle control and proper driving techniques. Advanced driving schools and autocross events provide excellent opportunities for a driver to learn "the limits." That is to say, learn a car's limitations but more importantly the limits within the driver. All in a safe and controlled environment.

Links to the local regional clubs/chapter driving schools pages are located here.

If you have the need for speed during the off-season, check with your local chapter for winter schools or indoor go-karting!

See our events calendar for upcoming schools, autocrosses, club races, go-karting, etc.

Advanced Driving Schools

Schools are for all drivers. We teach the basics of good driving starting at YOUR level. For those of you who have not attended one of these schools before and are debating whether or not this is for you, here is what the school consists of.

  • Classroom Sessions on the theory of car dynamics, car control, and proper driving techniques.
  • Driving Exercises on a controlled driving area where you will perform various drills such as car control, skid control, accident avoidance, and emergency stopping.
  • Track Driving where you will be taught the correct way to drive your car by an in-car instructor.

Extra days, for invited advanced students only, sometimes are set up.

Schools are often taught at race tracks.

We operate schools during the spring, summer, fall and very occasionally in the winter.

Autocrosses

a Toronto autocross"You gotta be able to do it slow, before you do it fast."

An autocross is a great way to apply driving theory in a safe, fun, cheap, and competitive event. An autocross is a short twisty, technical circuit marked with pylons or cones. It is usually set up in an empty parking lot or skid pad. A driver must navigate their car in as short a time as possible. If a cone is moved from its original spot, the driver receives a short time penalty. This requires tremendous car control.

Visit your local chapter web site or contact your local representative for more information.
